Introduction of Impact Analysis - Squirrel Subjects #3
There have been many instances and experiences in the past, shared by both Squirrel customers and team members alike, where after a time building a project, the spreadsheet grows increasingly complex. The constant addition of new sheets; the building of formulas that reference across the spreadsheet; the implementation of triggers and controls that are bound to multiple components.
This has often been remedied by deep back-tracking of steps and scanning through formulas to eventually find what you are looking for. But this has been deemed awkward and trying by most, especially those who may be new to the product or those who are accessing a project built by someone else.
The introduction of Impact Analysis puts a more permanent and cohesive solution in place to allow for swift and targeted examination of the spreadsheet, allowing for the selection of a cell and analysing -all- formulas, components and functions that are reading or pushing into that cell.
This is probably one of the most extensive new features introduced in 1.15, and definitely one of the most anticipated following its announcement. Matt, one of our lead developers, gave a small demonstration in a recent webinar outlining most of 1.15’s new features and developments.
Take a look for yourself for a breakdown of this new spreadsheet functionality!
